Working as part of a vibrant community of independent film makers in the East Midlands, Ali has acted in a number of short films. Most recently he appeared as a ghost in This Side of the Afterlife (2010) narrated by Rik Mayall and produced by Blair Barnette and Joe Walker and directed by Horton Squared, the brothers Adam and Joe Horton.

He has also played a failed inventor in the forthcoming music video The Enemy of my Enemy is Me by Humanfly. which will be playing on Scuzz TV.
